Despite the current wide diversity of museums covering the most varied topics one can imagine, the museum is still generally accepted among the general public to be a big building that houses art that nobody can touch, a safe house for objects to be suspended in time and guarded for eternity. Nevertheless, there has been a recent shift in the approach to creating and managing heritage in museums, in which the authority and power of decision-making has moved from experts in the museum, to the communities who originally own the heritage.
This post refers to coursework done for
ARCLG141 (2015-16), one of the core courses of the UCL
MA Principles of Conservation. As part of their assessed work for this course, students
were asked to design and produce a poster communicating specific aspects of
