A Conservator’s Involvement in Looted Antiquities by Abby Duckor and Anna Funke (UCL Institute of Archaeology)

The looting of archaeological heritage has exponentially increased over the past few decades. Abby Duckor and Anna Funke aim to demonstrate to conservators to what extent they may facilitate the looting of antiquities and how they are affected by trafficking.  The poster outlines  and what conservators can do to fight back against illicit antiquities trade, such as improving the transparency of the conservator’s role within this market. This could lead to a more conscientious and engaged generation of conservators who are involved with the wider field of cultural heritage and its issues.

This is the abstract of a poster to be presented at 'The impact of cross-disciplinary conservation on social development', the UCL Institute of Archaeology Annual Conference 2014. 
The conference will be held Friday and Saturday, 16 & 17 May 2014, at the UCL Institute of Archaeology in Lecture Theatre G6 from 8:30 to 18:00.  Conference posters will be on display all day Friday in room 612.
